On Thursday, July 28, the Grand Traverse Astronomical Society (GTAS) will hold a meeting and viewing night at the Lanphier Observatory on the beach at The Leelanau School, north of Glen Arbor. Viewing starts at 10 p.m., if there are clear skies. Astronomer Bob Moler will be there, and other members of GTAS have been invited to bring their telescopes for additional viewing opportunities.
The Grand Traverse Astronomical Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to to education and enjoyment of the night sky. Established in 1982, the GTAS has about 50 members from the Traverse City and the Grand Traverse area of northern Michigan.
